When To Think Out Loud

I have at various times thought “when do your private thoughts become public words?”.

There are many times when our private thoughts never become public. We may think bad things about someone but then realise that it’s not wise to speak them aloud. We may have a crush on someone and never have the nerve to verbalise. And I am sure you can think of a few.

But what I am struggling with is what criteria do I use to stop thinking internally and start speaking externally. Example – when do you start having a real conversation with your significant other that you want to retire?

Some of the hesitation is to externalise is fear. That can be overcome. Perhaps the timing is not right based on other factors. Or maybe you have kept it private for so long that you cannot imagine sharing it with others.

Personally, I do not have the answer to this one, so I thought I would write down a few things. Maybe some things are just meant to remain yours and not be shared they are personal treasures.
