That is the question. Last night I had an opportunity to start working on my front deck reno/refresh. I had a great day at work, followed by an excellent workout, so I was full of energy.
My intention was to have a quick dinner and get straight to work. Now there is no real deadline for when the deck needs to be done, but I’d like to finish it before we have some family over in July. With the date set, there is some pressure to get the job done sooner rather than later.
Of course, this time constraint is totally false and self-imposed. The family picnic will happen all the same even if the deck is not complete. But I seem to put these false pressures on myself which really are not necessary. Last night was a good example.
I decided to show myself some “grace” and said no to working on the deck. And in the end, it was a good decision. One because it allowed me to relax the rest of the evening. And more importantly, because it started to rain 1/2 hour after I decided not to work outside.
To work or not to work – that is the question and I think I’ve answered it for the time being.
