It’s a beautiful Sunday here. The wind is howling. The rain is pounding against the window. The gutters on the garage are (were) clogged looking out this morning. All great things depending on your perspective.

But that’s not what’s got me thinking this moving. Today my youngest daughter moves back to University. For the past 4 months, she has been living at home while in co-op. It’s been great to have her here but sadly moving day has arrived.

In a way, it is another season of life. We are sad to see her go but also excited that she is continuing her education. It will mean for the most part dinners with just the two of us again. No more last minute can I have the car or can you bring me here requests.

We’ve loved having her back home but realise that it is time to move on. For whatever reason Billy Joel’s song “Movin’ Out” is in my head. So this afternoon we will pack up two vehicles (yes she has a lot of stuff) and make the hour and a half trek to the university.

Sunday – the first day of the new week and the first day of a new season.
