Have you ever heard of the 5-Hour rule. The concept is fairly simple. You spend 1 hour per day 5 days per week learning/practicing something new.
The rule was coined by Michael Simmons, founder of Impact. Some of the most successful people in the world use this rule – Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Oprah.
Now I must confess that I have a problem learning new things. The real problem is a bit of shiny object syndrome. I see something new and interesting and I start, but soon after I see something else newer and more interesting and I abandon the first and move on to the next.
This time around I’ve committed to doing the 1 hour a day for the next month and sticking to this one skill. I purchased a course on Udemy and the thing I really like about it is that the lessons are broken down into videos no longer than 10 minutes. It helps that I really like the instructors voice and delivery method.
My plan is to check-in over the next few weeks to update how I am doing. The hope is that I can keep at for a month and then build from there.
