I wrote a post a few days ago about the book Miracles. I came across another chapter which briefly tells the story of how Horatio G. Spafford came to pen the well-known hymn “When Peace Like a River/It is Well with my Soul”.
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,It is well, it is well with my soul.(Refrain:) It is well (it is well),with my soul (with my soul),It is well, it is well with my soul.
I never knew the story behind the hymn and it is simply amazing and humbling. We can learn so much from this man and the tragedy that surround his life. And yet he trusts in God enough to say “it is well with my soul.
