It is no secret that I like to play golf. I’ve been playing for more than 30 years. You would think that at this point I should either be on Tour or at the very least be a scratch golfer.

Well neither has materialised and yet I find myself really using the 1% rule – slow and steady progress and over time I should and have seen results.

I don’t get out as often as I like and the season here is too short – 6 months. If I had my way I would eventually like to golf 2 – 3 times a week, but right now its more like 2 – 3 times a month. That does not amount to a lot of rounds to improve my game.

I did take lessons a few years ago which were really helpful and gave me some basic tips that have stuck with me. I also find myself looking at the odd Youtube video to solve some nagging problems. Every year I see that slow and steady progress, but it would be nice if I could see substantial progress.

For now however I think I will do my best and take it four hours at a time. Today was one of those days on the course – somethings felt right and other things felt wrong. The company was good, the weather was ok and 6 pars allowed me to shoot 90 – not bad, but I know I can do better.
